About Angelic rising
Angelic is a singer songwriter from Southeast London, with a unique sound that marries classic soul with elements of funk & reggae.
Angelic’s debut single “Keep on Rising” embodies her eclectic musical style, with an empowering lyrical message. Angelic’s husky tones with an old school vibe, marries the vibrant colourful energy of a small lady with a huge positive personality. Angelic’s musical career began at the tender age of 16 where her long time friend Colin Monplaisir encouraged her & Dawn Quevas to join a band with his school friend Micheal Gordon. Called the Triple G band, After a year they went their separate ways. She then went on touring with a reggae band called Mat’smela with Philip Poleon & Jerry Lionz. In 1985/6 she had her defining performance at Hammersmith Palais alongside the late great Steve Walsh. She became known for her magnetic stage presence and soul stirring vocals. She bought the house down performing a cover song “I wonder if I take you home, Lisa Lisa and cult Jam. Angelic’s sound draws inspiration from female powerhouses such as Chaka Khan, Nina Simone, Betty Wright, Silvia Striplin, & of course from SE London’s very own Mica Paris.
Angelic was highly influenced by the sounds & frequency of the eighties, which today cultivated her organic content of self empowerment. Her music not only pays homage to the legends of the past but also infuses contemporary relevance that speaks to a modern audience. Making her a self empowering artist with a groove. Angelic followed up with two new singles “Aim high”& “Don’t stop rising inspired by her own life struggles.
She was Encouraged by her close friends to stop procrastinating & do what she was put on the earth plane to do.
Angelic’s Love of music & performing elevated her to facilitate her own Performing arts school in the borough of Lewisham, in the mid nineties till 2006.
With 150 Youngstars banging down the door every Saturday. This was the highlight of her life. It makes her so proud that all her ex students have gone on to have incredible careers in the Arts and in their own private lives with raising their own families.
This inspired Angelic to write songs about life and whatever subject is downloaded into her consciousness. She writes about the solutions to the problems life throws at the people.
She is looking forward to performing up and down the country and bringing her colourful energy to the people.
We are excited to see what’s to come with her new single ‘Funky attitude’.
